localsink is a local-first log sink for development: one process on your machine that collects the logs your services route to it, with full-text search, faceted filters, a live tail, and an MCP endpoint your coding agent can query. Both plans are the same software — no feature gates, no crippled community edition, no enterprise fork. What a commercial license buys is the right to use it commercially.

How billing works

Paddle is our merchant of record

Paddle sells the license to you and handles the checkout, the payment, the invoice, and any sales tax or VAT due in your country. Your receipt comes from Paddle, and you manage or cancel your license at paddle.net. We never see your card details.

30 days to change your mind

Every commercial license carries a 30-day refund, for any reason and with no justification required. The full terms are in our refund policy, and the contract is our terms and conditions.

Questions

What is a seat?
One developer. A seat follows the person, not the machine — the same developer can run localsink on a laptop, a desktop and a dev container on one seat. Count the people who use it commercially, not the installs.
Monthly or yearly?
$10 USD per seat per month, or $100 USD per seat per year — twelve months for the price of ten, so paying annually saves 2 months. Both are the same license; switch between them whenever you like.
Does localsink phone home?
Your logs never leave your machine on either edition — no telemetry, no usage analytics, no crash reporting. The Community Edition never contacts us at all. The Licensed Edition sends one thing: your license key, when you enter it and periodically after, so a canceled or refunded license stops being treated as active.
What if I am offline?
Nothing is interrupted. The first validation stores your license expiration date, and localsink keeps running normally until that date while it retries in the background — no lockout, no short grace period. If the license does expire, it reverts to the Community Edition: same software, same features, just not licensed for commercial use.
Can we add or remove seats later?
Yes. Add seats as the team grows and they are billed pro rata for the rest of the period. Remove seats and the change takes effect at your next renewal.
What counts as commercial use?
Using localsink in the course of business: internal tooling at a company, work on a product or service you charge for, or a deliverable for a client — including if you are a solo consultant or freelancer. If you are being paid for the work the logs come from, it is commercial.
What counts as free use?
Personal projects, learning, students and academic work, and contributing to open source software. There is no time limit, no feature gate and no account. Free use is a license grant, not a trial.
Is the paid version different software?
No. The Community Edition and the Licensed Edition are the same build, with the same UI, API and MCP tools. Nothing is withheld from the Community Edition to make the Licensed Edition look better.
Who am I actually paying?
Paddle is our merchant of record. It handles the checkout, the invoice, and any sales tax or VAT due where you are. Your receipt and your subscription management both come from Paddle.
Is tax included?
No. Prices exclude sales tax and VAT, which Paddle calculates and adds at checkout based on your location. You will see the exact total, including tax, before you confirm the purchase.
Can I get an invoice, or pay by purchase order?
Paddle issues a tax-compliant invoice for every purchase, and you can retrieve it any time at paddle.net. For purchase orders, bank transfer or procurement paperwork, contact us about a site license.
What if it is not right for us?
Ask for a refund within 30 days and you get your money back, no reason needed. The refund policy is the full version.
